DMA FPGA board and custom firmware compatibility reference

DMA firmware is the configuration that initializes and identifies a compatible FPGA board. This practical guide covers target selection, file checks, JTAG diagnostics and post-flash verification for 75T and 100T hardware.

Start with the FPGA target

Read the part number and IDCODE through JTAG before choosing a file. A 75T or 100T label is a starting point, not proof of the actual silicon or board revision. Match the measured identity to the provider’s compatibility notes.

If the target cannot be read, solve the cable, adapter or driver problem first. Programming an unknown target makes later troubleshooting harder.

Validate the firmware file

  • Confirm the extension and expected programmer.
  • Compare the file hash or release identifier supplied by the provider.
  • Check that the package names your FPGA family and board revision.
  • Keep the original configuration and a rollback copy.
  • Read the release notes for operating-system or driver prerequisites.

Separate identification, flashing and data

JTAG identity reads, programming and the DMA data workflow are related but distinct operations. Use the documented connection for each one and save a log after each step. This separation makes it clear whether an error came from transport, configuration or the host software.

Verify after installation

Repeat the JTAG scan, confirm the reported target and check the data-path status. Record the firmware version, date, driver and exact output. If any field changes unexpectedly, stop and ask support rather than repeatedly flashing the board.
